Our Artful Beginnings workshops introduce sculptors of all ages to the fundamentals of soapstone carving. Participants will explore the unique qualities of soapstone, learning essential techniques using sandpaper and simple tools—no sharp or power tools required! These sessions focus on creative play, fine motor skills, patience, and confidence-building.

Workshop Structure:

A short meditation to settle the mind.
Hands-on carving in shallow trays with water to eliminate dust and ensure easy cleanup.
Participants select their own project piece, fostering a personal connection with the stone.
Guided instruction on shaping, refining, and finishing the piece.

Pricing

$13-$19 per student depending on the program.

7 Grandfathers Teachings

Program Overview

Duration: 4 x 45-minute sessions

Cost: $24 per student

Participants: Students choose and sculpt one of the seven animals, each representing a Grandfather Teaching.

Objective: Explore the meaning of the 7 Grandfather Teachings, their relevance today, and personal connections through guided discussion and artistic expression.
